Sigiriya

Long ago, Anuradapura has been ruled by a monarch by the name of Dathusena. He had two sons, Kashyapa and Moggallana. Although Kasyapa was younger than Moggallana, he desired to dominate first. He subsequently slaughtered his father and succeeded to the throne. Moggallana was quite irate. In order to rule, he desired to execute Kasyapa. Kasyaparan subsequently left Anuradapura to erect a stunning palace atop a rock. so that he could not have been murdered or caught by anybody. Sigiriya was the name of this rock. On Sigiriya, he created numerous exquisite constructions and painted magnificent pictures on the rock's surface. Some of the photographs and the foundations of the constructions can still be seen today.
