Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat 
region. Mahatma Gandhi's father's name was Karamchand Gandhi and 
mother's name was Putli Bhai. Gandhi ji got married at the age of 15. 
His wife's name was Kathurba Gandhi. Gandhi's father died when he was 
16. Gandhi studied law at London University. Bhagavad Gita is one of the
 books that touched Gandhi's heart. In 1893, Gandhi traveled from India 
to South Africa. During the train journey, insulted because of his 
colour, Gandhi became the first Indian lawyer to register in the Supreme
 Court of the Natal region of South Africa and spoke out for the Indians
 living in South Africa.
