d.p.yaya  born in Kalakhedara in January 1890. With the experience he gained while working as a teacher at Prince of Wales College and Ananda College in Colombo, he later served as the principal of Sahirak College within the same town. Later, he participated in the establishment of Sahirak Colleges across the sovereign country. He consistently published articles in the "Ceylon Muslim Revive" journal as part of his initiatives to advance society. He served as a lawmaker for Sri Lanka before becoming a minister in the first parliament. He led the freedom die fighting the leaders of the Tamil and Sinhalese communities.
