Mughal Empire

The foundation for the Mughal Empire was laid by the ruler Babur. In 1526, after the conquest of northern Indian territories, a separate regime was established there. Babur's grandson Maha Akbar transformed the Mughal state into an empire. He ruled from 1556 to 1605 and spread his authority over a large area of North India. Kings like Jahangir and Shahjahan who succeeded Akbar were also great Mughal emperors. King Shah Jahan built a special building called the Taj Mahal. The Mughal Empire began to decline during the reign of Aurangzeb who came to power after him.
